Skydiving is probably one of the best ways to overcome your fear of heights. Being so high up takes away the immediate sensation of fear you may feel if you were on top of a high building, climbing a ladder or if you're are near a high cliff edge. Knowing you have a Parachute and after your training you will feel very confident about your Skydive.
There is really no sensation of sickness when you fall from the aircraft. Unlike going over a bump on the road while traveling along in a car, Skydiving is a constant so it shouldn't cause your stomach to turn upside down.
Parachutes are designed with safety in mind. There are many factors to consider when jumping out of an aircraft thousands of feet high up in the sky. We only use Parachute equipment from the world's most proven parachute manufacturers. Around the world there are hundreds of thousands of Skydives done annually with an extremely high safety record.
Skydive Ireland has an impeccable safety record. We only use Parachute Equipment certified to the highest safety standards and we have Ireland's most qualified and skilled Instructors. When you Skydive the Parachute System you use has two Parachutes inside. The first one is called the 'Main Canopy' and the second is the 'Reserve Canopy'. Both Parachutes are meticulously maintained by highly qualified Skydive Ireland staff members. Skydive Ireland is the only Skydiving centre that uses Automatic Activation Devices on all our Student Parachute Equipment as a safety backup. We enforce the strictest safety guidelines and equipment maintenance procedures. Your safety is our #1 priority, and of course, your fun is our 2nd highest priority!
The Parachutes we use are very advanced, aerodynamic wings that are fully controllable and steerable. Just like aeroplanes or even birds, and before touchdown the parachute is slowed by applying the brakes which allows for a smooth landing. On a Tandem Skydive the Tandem Instructor takes care of all the landing procedures.
Yes of course. When you are falling through the sky at high speed you are able to breathe as normal. Freefall is so exciting that some people forget to breath.
. You must be at least 16 years old to do a Skydive. If you are aged 16-18 you must have a parent or Legal Guardian sign our Minor Consent form giving you permission to Skydive. Also, your Parent or Legal Guardian must be present on the day of your Skydive. Proof of age may be requested from you prior to your Skydive taking place.
Yes, Due to restrictions of the Parachute Equipment we impose a weight restriction of 210lbs (15 stone, 95 Kgs). If you are over 50 years old you must have a doctor complete our Medical Certificate to state you are healthy enough to proceed with a Skydive. If you have a disability then please get in touch with us to discuss if it would be possible for you to skydive. You may also be required to have a doctor complete our Medical Certificate. These measures are all strictly for safety reasons only.
No. Your very first Skydive can be a Solo or a Tandem.
That is no problem. You may Skydive for any charity of your choice. It is important however for us to ensure that charity funds are going to the right place so please get in touch with us in advance if you want to Skydive for a charity not listed with us. You may be required to get the written approval from the charity you want to fundraise for to Skydive on their behalf.
In the summer months there is higher demand so to prevent disappointment please get in touch with us as far in advance as possible. This applies especially if you are trying to arrange your Skydive around a particular event or special occasion. Holidays are always very heavily booked in advance. We can take bookings up to 6 months in advance. For all bookings we require a non-refundable deposit of €120. Please refer to our Terms & Conditions section.
All Skydiving is dependent upon suitable weather conditions. It is very disappointing to go to the effort of showing up to our Skydiving Centre and then not Skydive because weather is not suitable. In some cases you may have waited around all day for the weather to improve and still not get to Skydive. Unfortunately the weather is something that is completely out of our control. We can only guarantee that you will Skydive in safe weather conditions. We will not be forced to compromise our Instructors, Pilots or You're safety just so you can do your Skydive if the weather is not suitable. So we thank you for understanding our position on this matter.
If bad weather prevents you from doing your Skydive we will ensure you complete your training to ensure no delays next time you return to Skydive. You will need to get back in touch with us and we can re-schedule you to the next available date.
All Skydives must be paid in full in advance. At the time of booking a non-refundable deposit of €120 must be paid for each person. The remainder must be paid in full at least 5 days in advance of your booking date. Please refer to our Terms & Conditions for full details relating to payment.
Yes. Skydive Ireland requires anybody doing Solo Skydiving to hold at a minimum Third Party Insurance which covers third party liability. If you are doing a Tandem Skydive you are not required to have insurance for skydiving and is totally your own choice if you would like to take out an insurance policy to cover you and third parties.
Our Extreme Sports Insurance affiliated company offers a range of different packages ranging from Single Day coverage to Annual cover. Single day cover is perfect if you are thinking of doing a once off Skydive. If you think you may continue with our Sport then you should consider the Annual cover. Each Package has different levels of cover at a starting cost of €14 for basic bronze cover which meets our minimum insurance requirement.

Remember that all Skydive voucher are valid for a period of 12 months and it is your responsibility to ensure you complete your Skydive before it expires. If you voucher expires we can not reactivate it for you.
